Tri-Gatherings

There will be three upcoming events.

First of all, bowling competition.

It does not matter if you don't know how to play or not good at it. This is all about hanging out together, spending time together, getting to know each other better. You will of course learn new things.

It will be held at Crystal Bowl this Saturday, 22 September 2007 at 9.30am. And when I say 9.30am, it means the thing starts at that time. So, be there earlier for registration and to pay the fee. It costs RM10, and it's cheap in terms of price.

For more information please call Mr Tan Kwang Yang at 014-2051105.

Secondly, mooncake festival.

Although we live on earth, we must also appreciate that we can see such a beautiful moon at night. If you live on Saturn, you will celebrate 22 times every year. Luckily we only have one moon. Scientifically speaking, we are celebrating "natural-satelite"cake festival.

Nevertheless, gather around at 7.15pm next Monday, 24 September 2007 at auditorium. Lanterns and food will be provided. So, moonwalk yourself there.

For more details, please contact Miss Judieth Ting at 016-5893321. She might have a moonstone.

Lastly, movie day.

Yeah, probably after playing and spraining your arms in bowling and celebrating mooncake festival, all we need would be a nice movie. Don't worry, there's no horror movies or thrillers. So girls, you have no reason not to come also.

The venue will be swinburne's auditorium again. I know it's a cheap place. However, it's so cheap that it's free for all choir members only. If any members should bring any non-members, RM2 will be charged per head person.

The movie will start at 4pm, so please do not be late. It's on next Saturday, 29 September 2007.

For more information, you can call me up at 0128816062 or save your credits and mail me instead at here.

The result

I was just back from the prize giving ceremony. Sitting at the VIP sit. Privilege le... hehe.. Anyway, we did not win any of the prizes. UiTM won the first prize. And the other 2 contingents were also government schools. Inti, LimKokwing and Swinburne etc didn't win any of the items.

Never mind junkers!

Little encouragement:

I know many of you do want to win in this parade competition. We worked hard for it. However, don't take hold of the final results. We have definitely enchant the people's attention during those performance. Lots of elders laughed positively at our instruments. This was certainly our first ever performance and experience in public. Moreover, we were representing Swinburne!
What a privilege we had!
Thanks for your involvement once again. I appreciate it. And we do appreciate one another as well.

Little advertisement, Stay tuned for my latest update in my blog. hehe..

! Junkers rockz ! See you next year!

Johnson

City Day announcement!!

Junkers!

Guess everyone of you are waiting for the result patiently right? Guess what? Dr. Chua has emailed me, and he was told by Encik Ismail that Swinburne is invited to attend for the prize giving ceremony. Don't get so excited first. Then result of the winners is yet to be announced, so probably on this Saturday.

Dr. Chua, me and Gary are invited to attend the ceremony. Privilege le.. Wuahaha... Don't makan cuka. I will rakam the event in my cam recorder. And kek you guys. haha.. nola.. kidding kidding.

I'm also keen to know the result. Winning or getting the best performance is not the major issue. But it's the participation of every junkers who have won the crowd's heart.

Awaiting for the great news!

Regarding Notice Board and Website

when you past the 2nd floor notice board, what do you see..?

choir club notice board of course!!
ok, cold joke..

to any loyal club members, please help out with the notice board.. your job is very simple..

note that sometimes, the sticky-tapes will malfunction lose their stickiness.. and your job is just to stick it back to the board.. even if you are kedekut do not have any sticky-tapes with you, just press the notices against the board, hoping it will stick back..

if any damage is found, please contact any director of publicity immediately.. that will be me(0128816062), aldrin(0168963882), and last resort, miss tiong yieng(0128907433)..

the notice board is still under construction.. don't worry, the directors of publicity will finish it before swinburne finishes its construction..

if you see anyone vandalizes the notice board, feel free to bash the person up.. for girls, if you have no muscles, just scold loudly.. scold till the guy/girl rolling on the floor in fear.. i'm so evil.. if bashing not enough, just borrow broomstick from the maids..

ok, enough violence.. we are choir club, not bashing-people-up-because-they-vandalizes-our-notice-board club..

now, we are done with the notice board, let's move on to the website!!

see this blog..? so plain.. don't even have any hibiscus or rafflesia decoration at all.. so, i have decided to launch a contest..

are you EXCITED!!??

there can be lots of participants, but there's only one winner though.. all you have to do, is to draw out a banner that you think is suitable for this blog.. it can anything as long as it is not a plagiarized work..

submit a SOFT copy to me through here.. yes, either *bmp file or *jpg format.. if got *gif format, even better.. closing date is on Saturday, 15 September 2007.. submit before 11.59pm..

the committee members will vote over it, and decide which one is the winner.. if you prefer to decline the fame of being a winner, i will just hand the prize to you privately if you win..

the prize is worth winning, don't worry..

may the best artist win.. take the initiative and start clicking your mouse..

Reconsider for the namelist. **updated**

I'm back.

Over this few days, i have keep thinking about the name list. And i just feel that 20 people will be too much in this STOMP band. It is because if we can't manage to play well according to the perfect beat within this 2-3 weeks before the actual event, we will going to create NOICE rather than a nice music beat.

So i've decided to withdraw some people from the previous name list. I will reduce it to 13-14 people (Max), and just to clarify, this 13 people will involve in the "Stomp performance". And the others whose names are not in the performance list, you are allowed to join the city parade. But only limited people are allowed to follow. This is requested by Encik Ismail. Cheers.

But thinking of who to pull out is a very sickening action to do, hope all of you will understand. Seriously, i feel so uneasy laa.... paiseh.. we only have less than 3 weeks to practice. So i've decided to conclude it with a "fair and square" condition.

I believe that this requires:

Commitment
---(Can come for every single practice, if possible),
Perseverance ---(Seriously, this performance is very tiring and requires a lot of energy, i hope none of you will give up at the last second)
Willingness (---You know la ..... )

I have talked to those whose names are not in the latest list already. New lists. Appreciate you guys lots.

Guys
1) Johnson Woan
2) Wui Jie
3) Ivan Liew
4) Swee
5) Wee Liang
6) Chong Soon Eng
7) Ryan
8) Yun Qii
9) Kwan Yang
10) Melvin

Girls
1) Judieth Ting
2) Evelyn

Please don't stone me ok if i have removed your name. I do apologise. No swapping or replacing with "outsiders" are allowed , if one of you has decided to step out / quit, and the name lists will still be the same. No new members wil be added in.

-------------------------------------------
Just for a little update.

Melvin, Ah yieng and I went to search for the instruments that we will going to use. I bought some drumsticks. Seriously, i don't know where to find and buy those big tongs and tong sampah.... And thank God that melvins' aunty sells this "things" at 10th miles !!!!! gossh.... Anyway, we went there for a survey on Thursday. And this morning we went there again together with a rented truck and we bought a lot of stuffs. And after that we went to 7th miles to buy other necessary equipments. And tour tour tour.....

Some photos

We will use this Shun Wu Kung's sticks as our drumsticks, and the rests will use the actual drumsticks.

Some recycle tins and dustbins.

Seriously, those tongs are so smelly ( some tins are taken out from the place where they throw the rubbishs and wastes) and oily. Busying washing them.

Here you go !

Tiring but exciting ! My first time to in charge of this big event ( We are representing Swinburne !) . What a privilege. Hope we will see a strong teamwork among our people.

Remember:

First meeting on this MONDAY. 2pm-4pm. At Room 5.02 (might change) cas we need lcd.

Do post comments to make sure you are still alive. If cannot make it, do let me know, if not i will anggap that you kenak kidnapped.

SING SMART! not hard! ----->free vocal tips

Here's some alphabetical vocal tips to improve your singing skills. Seriously, it helps alot! :)

A = Airflow. Never hold your breath while singing. The airflow is what creates and carries your vocal tone, so keep it flowing. Avoid Clavicular Breathing and Belly Breathing -- instead, learn the proper way to breathe for singing, called diaphragmatic breathing.

B = Breathing properly for singing requires the shoulders to remain down and relaxed, not rise with the breath intake. A singer will gain power to their voice by strengthening the muscles in their ribcage and back.

C = Communicate the music's message. During performance it is very important to communicate the message of the song. If you make a "mistake" don't point it out to your audience. It is most likely they did not even notice.

D = Diaphragmatic Support. Develop the strength and coordination of the diaphragm and become a pro at controlling the speed of the airflow released, the quantity of the airflow released and the consistency of the airflow released.

E = Elasticity of the Vocal Folds. The vocal tone is created as airflow bursts through the cleft of the vocal cords causing them to vibrate/oscillate. The vocal folds can lose elasticity due to misuse, lack of use and/or increase of age. Be sure to train your voice with vocal exercises on a regular basis to keep your voice in shape.

MORE FREE VOCAL TIPS!

F = Free your natural voice. Don't be a slave to any music style -- even your favorite one. Learn to sing with your full and natural voice by developing your vocal strength and coordination. Then add stylistic nuances to achieve any singing style you desire.

G = Guessing Games. Never guess the pitch you are about to sing. Hear the note in your head before you open your mouth.

H = Higher notes require an increase in airflow.

I = Increase your breathing capacity and control by doing breathing exercises every day. Be sure to avoid patterned breathing. Singers must negotiate phrase lengths of all different sizes, so it is important to be versatile.

J = Jumping Jacks. If you are having trouble getting your body completely involved with singing, try doing some cardiovascular activities, like jumping jacks, for a few minutes before getting started again. Sometimes your instrument simply needs an airflow wake-up call.

K = Know your limits. Don't sing too high or too low. Don't sing to the point of vocal fatigue. Never strain or push your voice. Doing so will not result in a higher or lower singing range, or a stronger voice, only a voice that has suffered undue stress.

L = Lower notes require a decrease in airflow.

M = Mirror. Training in front of a mirror can help a singer discover many things about their instrument, as well as confirm that other actions are being done correctly. Be sure to rely on a mirror during vocal training, but be able to leave the mirror to face an audience.

N = Never sing if it hurts to swallow.

MORE FREE VOCAL TIPS!

O = Open your mouth wider. Nine times out of ten this will help you achieve a stronger, more defined vocal tone.

P = Prepare your instrument before singing. Singers are very much like athletes. Take care of your body/instrument by stretching out the vocal muscles and relieving the body of unnecessary tension before singing.

Q = Quit smoking. Quit talking too loudly. Quit talking too much.

R = Raise the Soft Palate. Creating a larger space inside your mouth by raising the soft palate, or fleshy part of the back of our throat, helps achieve a deeper more well rounded singing tone.

S = Sing through the vocal breaks. If you do not teach the muscles the necessary actions to sing through the trouble spots, success will never be achieved. Sing through it, sing through it again, and again....

T = Tone Placement. Learning the facts about tone placement and resonance make a huge difference in the abilities of a singer. In simple terms, a singer has numerous body cavities (nasal cavity, chest cavity, etc.) and amplifiers (bones, ligaments, etc.) that act as resonators. Focusing the vocal tone through the proper resonating chamber with the proper support is important with regard to controlling and developing your personal sound.

EVEN MORE FREE
VOCAL TIPS!

U = Unique Voice Under Construction. Remember that your voice has its own unique fingerprint and is constantly changing with our actions, environment, health habits, etc. With this in mind, listen to your own voice often and use vocal training tools to keep your voice on the right track.

V = Vibrato. Vibrato is a natural or forced fluctuation of a singing tone. Do not concentrate on learning how to sing with vibrato. Instead, concentrate on the basic foundations of singing, breathing and support. When the proper coordination is achieved, vibrato will occur naturally.

W = Water. Water. Water. Drink room temperature water as often as you can to keep your voice organ hydrated. If you only have cold or hot water available, swish it around in your mouth for a moment. This action will keep your voice organ from being startled or stressed by different temperatures.

Y = You Can Sing with Impact! Exercise your voice daily with contemporary voice lesson products. Don't Just Sing when You Can Sing with Impact!

Z = Zzzzzzzz. Be sure to get your rest. If you are tired, your voice will show it. A tired body/instrument will not allow you to produce your best possible sound.

i realized that our blog has been spammed. anyway, who cares about what "outsider" say right. all the members agree right?? usually when people spam, they're just jealous of what our club has done. all he/she knows is just criticizing what other people do... only talk and no do...

anyway, some of the members have replied the spam in the chatbox. with all the members' cooperation, it is useless for anybody to insult us. if want, just come and compete with us with singing. see how good they are.... don't forget, we have a lot of good singers!!!

it's alright if we didn't perform rite, we're all beginners and are willing from our mistakes rite??unlike some "outsiders" who didn't dare to face their failure...

Let's work harder, members!!!!

It will be a glorious moment when we finally reach the top. Imagine the glory of standing on that stage, hearing the thunderous applause and the deafening cheers of the crowd. Just imagine~
