Dancing With the Cultures

This is the first step for the club in 09; We just had a committee meeting last Thursday (26th Feb) and decided that we want to hold more events related with music instead of a dragging two hours singing practices. =p BUT there will be practices if the Choir Club have performances.

Musical Workshop!!!

The committee have came up with the idea to have a musical workshop which is aimed mainly at the International Students of Swinburne University. The international students will be able to learn more about Malaysia especially Sarawak, through this workshop which will introduce Malaysia's multiracial culture and its various interesting traditional music from different ethnic groups. This event will definitely be like a crash course for foreign students to understand the basic ethics and relativity of Malaysia's colorful cultures.

For now all that has been done is the gathering of informations and the involved body. I have approach IMH Academy as they are very experience in handling workshops. I would love to work with them most of all is because of their enthusiasm in general. The date of the event has yet to be confirmed but it is agreed and possibly will fall on the last Saturday of March ( 28th ).

Therefore the Helping HAnd of ALL choir members will be crucial for the success of this event. The Choir Club's first meeting will be the friday (6th March 09 ) of week 01. Details of this workshop event will be further discussed with all members.

P.S. CHOIR CLUB IS LOOKING FOR PIANIST!!! ASAP!!!

See you guys at the meeting! Time is 2pm and location will be sms-ed to members.

09 is here...Where are we?

CALLING OUT TO ALL CHOIR MEMBERS!!!

First of all i would like to wish all a Happy New Year and happy welcoming the new semester! As they-whoever they are say ' First step to improvement is to admit and recognize your mistakes' and so the semester of 02/08 was not so productive for the choir club as the choir club truly has lost all touch and sight of its aim.

The last activity the club did was the Swinburne Carnival. The club did an ok ok sales despite the lack of crowd or should we say "no crowd" at all. We pushed the items to be sold to the same ppl and thinking of it now really it was hilarious. We did it all in the spirit to raise fun and have a little of fun. p.s. we didn't generate income but manage to payback the cost money we 'loan' from sssc =p

New hope arises from a
new year 09 and i would like to do something new and interesting with the club so that this semester will fun filled with new experience and ermm maybe also carrying out plans from last sem which the club didn't manage. hehe =p Singing and performing are my passions and i refuse to give up that easily. For those who have the same passion join in my little crusade to sing and perform just to get that 15 minutes of being in the spotlight.

Swinburne Grand Opening

Yea, it's one of the once-in-a-life-time chance.

It's not just any grand opening, it's "The Grand Opening".

How the choir performs, affects the impression of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, as well as the Vice Chancellor of Swinburne.

Not to pressure all of you, but to encourage you to do your best. And most importantly, enjoy yourselves.

The Old.New Swinburne Choir Club 08

Come a new year,a new resolution, & a new vision, there is never a limit for improvement and re-invention of oneself. Swinburne Choir is on that mission for that fresh 'zesss' & re-invention.

Our main goal this year is first and foremost to inspire students to express themselves through music and singing plus indulge in related creative arts works be it in stage management, sound systems, props, performers' costume design & even choreography.

The Choir Club also aims to lay a good foundation in singing upon members. Singing is not an easy job at all let alone singing in a big group. This will definitely cultivate our ability as a student whole to be able to work with others and cooperate and coordinate.

One of my many 'maestro' once told me that - " No matter who you are be you a doctor, an engineer, a businessman, an accountant, a leader, high & low; with the understanding or passion for 'the arts' you will be more fine at your profession. Arts enhances our observation, feelings and we become a more detailed person." This will definitely be a plus for anyone of us.

Come on and join the wagon. Time and place of club's meeting is on the -top.right-hand corner- of this site. Come with all your ideas and vision. No one will be denied here.

Tri-Gatherings

There will be three upcoming events.

First of all, bowling competition.

It does not matter if you don't know how to play or not good at it. This is all about hanging out together, spending time together, getting to know each other better. You will of course learn new things.

It will be held at Crystal Bowl this Saturday, 22 September 2007 at 9.30am. And when I say 9.30am, it means the thing starts at that time. So, be there earlier for registration and to pay the fee. It costs RM10, and it's cheap in terms of price.

For more information please call Mr Tan Kwang Yang at 014-2051105.

Secondly, mooncake festival.

Although we live on earth, we must also appreciate that we can see such a beautiful moon at night. If you live on Saturn, you will celebrate 22 times every year. Luckily we only have one moon. Scientifically speaking, we are celebrating "natural-satelite"cake festival.

Nevertheless, gather around at 7.15pm next Monday, 24 September 2007 at auditorium. Lanterns and food will be provided. So, moonwalk yourself there.

For more details, please contact Miss Judieth Ting at 016-5893321. She might have a moonstone.

Lastly, movie day.

Yeah, probably after playing and spraining your arms in bowling and celebrating mooncake festival, all we need would be a nice movie. Don't worry, there's no horror movies or thrillers. So girls, you have no reason not to come also.

The venue will be swinburne's auditorium again. I know it's a cheap place. However, it's so cheap that it's free for all choir members only. If any members should bring any non-members, RM2 will be charged per head person.

The movie will start at 4pm, so please do not be late. It's on next Saturday, 29 September 2007.

For more information, you can call me up at 0128816062 or save your credits and mail me instead at here.
